Elliot Mnisi Executive Profile
Elliot Mnisi has been in the Mining industry from 1992 to date. During this period he achieved extensive knowledge in both the Platinum and Coal Industries ranging from Shaft Deepening, Steep Mining, Mechanised Mining, Decline Shafts and Open Cast Pits in projects ranging within both Shaft and Capital Operations.
Elliot has completed his Baccalaureus Technologiae in Mining Engineering at the University of Johannesburg in 2008 and is the CEO of Rhimak Holdings. Previous appointments included Consulting Engineer (mechanised) at Sibanye Platinum, from 2015 to 2016, and Senior Manager at the Lonmin Marikana Division (conventional mining), from 2007 to 2015.
Elliot holds memberships in various institutes including the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM) and the Chamber of Mines. He is also an active member of the Association of Mine Managers South Africa (AMMSA) and served on the AMMSA Council as well as the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) Mine Overseers Examination Board.
His first concern has always been the safety of the employees, followed by a consistent delivery in production and working closely with all stakeholders, including the unions, local communities and local municipalities. He has also experienced valuable insights in the different cultures surrounding the operations and provided assistance in areas where needed.
Elliot is proud to have achieved 2 Million Fatality Free Shifts in February 2012, on the Lonmin E3 JV Pandora Shaft, which has not been achieved since the shaft was sunk in 1988, as well as 3 Million Fall of Ground Fatality Free Shift on E3 JV Pandora in December 2013 and 2 Million Fall of Ground Fatality Free Shifts on E2 Shaft during his appointment as Senior Manager. He also received the award for ‘Best LTIFR for the North West Region’ in 2011, as well as various ‘Exceptional Performance’ achievements.
In addition to his executive duties, Elliot is also playing an active role in the development of various mining projects in and around the country as well as projects in water management.
