Velile Nhlapo Executive Profile
Velile is a qualified Mining Engineer who brings over 20 years of mining experience and knowledge gained through growth across various ranks in the mining field. Managed mines and projects in excess of over R10Bn and labour above 10 000 people over time in various capacities. Has extensive knowledge working in most countries in Africa.
He has held positions of leadership in Royal Bafokeng Platinum as General Manager and then later as Non Executive Director until now, Anglo Platinum (RPM) – General Manager and Head of Business Improvement , PPC – Business Development Executive and Head of Mining and Gold Fields as Learner Official(Bursar) to Section Manager level. He is also the former Chief Executive Officer (3 years) of Fraser Alexander, the leading mining services company with a rich history of over a hundred years.
Velile’s model for success is that which blends technical and general management expertise with people/stakeholder engagement and timeous decision making.
He currently serves as a non-executive director of Royal Bafokeng Platinum and four other private mining companies.
Velile holds a B.Tech in Mining Engineering from the University of Johannesburg and ND + NHD in Metalliferous Mining from Wits Technikon. Also holds a Mine Managers Certificate of Competency and also Mine Overseers Certificate of Competency.
